Passes vote of confidence on  Plateau APC state chairman Hon Rufus Bature

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jos South Local government council of Plateau state have thrown their collective weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu endorsing them as sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The resolution was reached at a high-level APC Stakeholders Meeting held in the council at the weekend

The meeting also saw the stakeholders passing a vote of confidence of the state chairman of the the APC Hon Rufus Bature commending his leadership and commitment to the party’s progress.

A communique made available to newsmen in Jos reads that the leadership and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, convened a crucial meeting on Friday, 19th September 2025, at Jonggrand Hotel, Bukuru.

The gathering was aimed at addressing the lingering leadership crisis in the Local Government, and to collectively chart a path that reflects the will of the people while securing the unity and progress of the party.

The meeting was convened by the Honourable Member representing Jos South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Isaac Dalyop, with the authority of the APC State Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature.

The meeting had in attendance a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including:

1. Hon. Isaac Dalyop – Convener

2. Hon. Pam Bot-Mang – Federal Commissioner Designate, Federal Character Commission

3. Jos South APC Elders Forum led by Da Fidelis Dadieng

4. 3 former members of the National Assembly:

Hon. Linus Damajing

Hon. Davou S. B. Gyel

Hon. Daniel Sunday Dung

5. Former Local Government leaders:

1 former Chairman

2 former Secretaries

14 immediate past elected Councillors

6. District Stakeholders Forum Chairmen from:

Vwang District

Gyel District

Za’ang District

Kuru District

7. Fifteen (15) Ward Chairmen out of twenty (20)

8. Seventeen (17) members of the LGA Executive Committee out of twenty four (24)

9. Two (2) members of the State Executive Committee

10. Chairmanship, Deputy Chairmanship, and Councillorship candidates of the party in the last Local Government elections

11. Other respected elders, leaders and stakeholders across the Local Government

It is worthy of note that Jos South has 20 state electoral wards, each led by a Chairman and represented by a Councillor. Out of these, 15 Ward Chairmen and 14 former Councillors were present, signifying an overwhelming representation of grassroots leadership in support of the resolutions taken.

RESOLUTIONS

At the end of robust deliberations, all stakeholders in attendance, numbering well over a hundred and twenty, with the exception of only three (2 Councillorship candidates and 1 Ward Chairman), overwhelmingly adopted the following resolutions:

1. That the meeting commiserates with our dear National Chairman and his family on the passing to glory of their beloved mother, and a minute of silence was observed in her honour.

2. That a vote of no confidence was reaffirmed that the suspended Chairman of the party in Jos South Local Government remains suspended and should step aside with immediate effect.

3. That Vwang District shall submit a list of names to the stakeholders for consideration and ratification as a substantive Party Local Government Chairman in line with our LG zoning arrangement.

4. That vacant LGA Party Executive positions; including 2 from Kuru, 1 from Za’ang, and the position of Secretary of the Elders Forum; be filled promptly through nominations from the affected districts.

5. That the unity, strength, and discipline of the APC in Jos South remains paramount and sacrosanct, and all stakeholders are urged to place the interest of the party above personal or sectional ambitions.

6. That Jos South APC stakeholders fully support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to contest the 2027 Presidential election as the sole candidate of the party.

7. The stakeholders reaffirmed their unflinching loyalty to the leadership of the APC in Plateau State under Hon. Rufus Bature, and to the party at the national level under the exemplary leadership of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, pledging to continue working in unity to secure electoral victory and promote good governance.
