Governor-elect Caleb Mutfwang (GCM), of Plateau State in furtherance of strategic engagements ahead of his much anticipated inauguration on May 29th, 2023, has met with officials of Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited in Abuja.
The consultative meeting which held at the company’s Federal Capital Territory office was aimed at seeking areas of partnership and collaboration between the Chinese Information and Communications Technology (ICT) company and Plateau State Government.
Areas of particular interest to the Governor-elect which he disclosed would be top priority for the incoming administration are Electronic Governance (E-Governance), ICT Training for Youths to acquire relevant skills, and the setting up of an ICT Hub in Plateau State, to serve the rest of northern Nigeria and beyond. He also added that the hub when created, should not only be limited to providing services and support, but should have capacity to produce consumer electronics like smartphones, mobile broadband modems, computers, etcetera.
The meeting was fruitful as the Huawei team was enthusiastic toward the immense possibilities in the new frontier, which such a partnership with Plateau State Government would provide.
