With just three more days to go, the streets of Jos have been buzzing with excitement about the upcoming E-Vision City Cycling Marathon Experiential race this Saturday. The registration window closed over the weekend and all is now set for the competition to take place. Now, people are curious about what to expect at this highly anticipated spectacle.

Concerning the question about how many cyclists would be racing that day, the Logistics Managers, Mr. Fidelis Chiemezie Okoro and Mrs. Deborah Dogari Garba (Secretary of the Plateau Amateur Cycling Association) had this to say: “At the close of the registration window, we recorded a total of 75 registered cyclists: 64 registered male cyclists and 11 registered female cyclists. We would also like to encourage and support more females to indulge the sports of cycling”

The Business Dev Manager, Mr Adewale Adefisayo, pointed out that the numbers were fair considering this is only an experiential race organized by the company. He cited that: “Event the biggest cycling event in the world, the Tour De France usually has about 176 cyclists participating in the race and our numbers are close to half that amount for an experiential race. We project the model designed for the main event next year will result in greater numbers, attracting cyclists across the country to participate.”

E-Vision is positioning itself not just as one of the leading entertainment hubs in Nigeria but also as a brand that promotes wellness and healthy lifestyles. The CEO of E-Vision Concepts, Mr. Ayogu Dominic said: “As the popular saying goes ‘health is wealth’. And asides encouraging the participation in sports, and providing opportunities for the youths to display their talents, one of the best ways to give back to the community is by creating avenues for people to access good health care. This is why we decided to package a free medical outreach programme for the community alongside the race.”

Regarding what exactly the medical outreach would entail, the President of FIMDSA, Victor had this to say: “We will be conducting free hepatitis B & C tests, free malaria tests for children, free blood sugar and blood pressure checkups, and free medical counselling.” He went on further to commend E-Vision Concepts for their initiative and encouraged the people in the community to maximize this opportunity.

The Event Director, Mr. Onyeka Nwaebien, promises the event is going to be a grand spectacle garnished with cultural dance performances, fan-fair, trophies and cash prizes awarded to the winners of both categories, and graced with the presence of special guests.

The ECCM team, alongside representatives from PACA and FIMDSA are set to have an interview on JayFM tomorrow, Thursday, 2nd November, 2023, by 2pm prompt. The event will be streamed live on the JayFM facebook page. They will be discussing about the event and giving more details about it, so tune in.
