Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Plateau State Chapter, Hon. Rufus Bature on Sunday said he received with deepest shock the news of the demise of the immediate past past Plateau State Head of Service, Engineer Sunday Chong Hyat, mni which sad event occurred in Abuja two days ago after a brief illness.
This was contained in a statement signed by
Hon. Sylvanus Namang,APC State Publicity Secretary and made available to newsmen in Jos .
While mourning the exit of the Engr Hyat whom he described as a quintessential and very unassuming gentleman, the APC chairman stated in his condolence statement that he is totally devastated by the sudden development.
He recalled with nostalgia the very cordial relationship he enjoyed working with the deceased who was the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Works while he was Secretary to the Government of the State.
He said due to his commitment, hard work and dedication to duty and who excelled in the civil service of the state, he nominated the Late Head of Service for the one year study at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru which was speedily approved by the Governor of the State.
He said the late Sunday Hyat would be greatly missed would for a long time be remembered for the indelible marks he left on the State Civil Service which he initiated and supervised the execution of landmark reforms.
Outside the civil service, the deceased who until his death was the National President of the Gindiri Old Students Association, GOSA and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE where he left enduring lagacies.
The State APC Chairman on behalf of the entire party members in the state, prayed God to specially comfort the immediate family, Ganawuri community, Riyom Local Government and the Plateau State Government over this monumental loss.
He prayed God to grant the soul of this God – fearing gentleman eternal rest at his bosom.
