Minister of Labour and Employment and Senator-elect for Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong on Saturday said the tourism potentials of Plateau State will continue to flourish particularly through sports development.
Lalong made this known while speaking at the Lamingo golf club Jos, where he performed the tee-off at the 2023 Governor’s Golf Tournament.
The Minister said he was happy that the game of golf and the annual Governors cup tournament he started has continued to progress.
He said the game if sustained, will bring more tourists to the State and boost the local economy.
Lalong called on the Government and private sector to support not only the game of golf but other sports which can develop the State further.
A statement signed by Dr. Makut Simon Macham the Special Adviser to Minister of Labour and Employment reads that the Plateau State Governor represented by Special Adviser on Security Gen. G.G. Shipi rtd. said the Government is committed to sustaining the tournament and boosting the economy.
Captain, Lamingo Golf Club Rev. Fr. Blaise Agwom said the tournament has players from within and outside Nigeria, competing in both professional and amateur categories.
