Edo Governor Okpebholo fully committed to development of the state says Abuja based Health Physician Dr Etukumana
Stress that Okpebholo’s warning to Peter Obi not a threat
Abuja based public health physician Dr Iboro Etukumana , yesterday stressed that the Edo state Governor His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo is fully committed to governance and the development of the state.
“The Governor has started bringing massive development to the state and urged him not to be distracted by naysayers.”
He further added that ” Governor Monday Okpebholo’s warning to the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi to get security clearance before coming to the state, should not be misconstrued as a threat.”
He also backed the position of Governor Monday Okpebholo warning Peter Obi from coming into the state without security clearance, lamenting that the Governor’s statement was given various misinterpretations.
Dr Etukumana added that the politics of violence is alien to the Edo state Governor His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo because he is a believer of the rule of law, while maintaining that even in the face of political provocation, unfounded allegations and outright disregard to statutory laws by unruly political actors, the Governor whom he so knows would not resort to political violence.
The statement made available to Newsmen reads, “ The Edo State Governor that I know is a peaceful and law abiding personality ,who is focused in transformation the state .”
He added that my attention has been drawn to various misinterpretations surrounding the recent remarks made by Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, regarding the visit of Peter Obi to the state.”
“It is imperative to state clearly that the Governor did not issue any form of threat to Mr. Obi, but rather emphasised the need for high-profile individuals, particularly politically exposed persons, to notify and seek security clearance from the Governor before embarking on any public engagements within the state.”
Governor Okpebholo is committed to a safe and inclusive Edo State for all. His administration is working tirelessly to address the insecurity situation he inherited.
” The governor is determined to improving the lives of citizens of Edo state through various initiatives, including strengthening security, promoting inclusivity, and fostering economic development. ”
Governor Okpebholo has embarked on the upgrade of State-owned health facilities to enhance service delivery.
The Physician also added that in order to make life more meaningful for the people of Edo state ,Governor Monday has provided jobs and boost the economy, the governor has made giant strides in infrastructural development.
Some of the milestones include the award of contract and commencement of construction of a flyover bridge at Ramat Park, Benin City; procurement of Payloaders, trucks and compressors for the Edo State Waste Management Agency to enhance service delivery; and, the passage and implementation of the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission Law which empowers the State to generate, transmit and distribute power. The gains of these actions are very well obvious.
” I call on the Governor not to be distracted but continue to be focused in the transformation of the state ,” Dr. Iboro Etukumana added.
