Over 1,500 Residents Benefit From Navy’s Free Medical Outreach In Plateau

Commander of the Nigerian Navy  Ship Beecroft  has organised a one-day free medical outreach  for residents of  Dadur, Bwarat in Langtang North Local government Council of Plateau state .
Our correspondent  reports that over 1,500 residents benefitted from the medical outreach, which featured a range of health services.
The services provided included rapid malaria tests, free medical consultations,  distribution of medications, and insecticide-treated mosquito nets for children and pregnant women, eye and dental check ups .
The beneficiaries were also screened for diabetes mellitus and hepatitis B and C, and treated for malaria, blood pressure, and blood sugar.
According to the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft , Commodore Paul Ponfa Nimmyel the sponsor , he said the outreach was organised  to give back to his community.
Represented by Surgeon Lt Commander Francis Fuanbial, he said ‘ This outreach brings to the fore the importance the Nigerian Navy places on Corporate Social responsibilities as we all know, giving back to society is the essence of our existence. “
“The Nigerian Navy remains a key stakeholder in nation building, and through initiatives like this, it aims to strengthen the bond between the Nigerian Navy and communities .
Langtang North Council Boss, Hon Pirfa Tyem who was represented by his deputy Mrs Deborah Dalen lauded the Navy for the outreach and pledged to continue to partner with all credible organization to move the local government council forward.
The Traditional ruler of Bwarat community, Ponfa  Bahal  described the gesture as laudable.
The traditional ruler commended the Navy Commander , urging them to continue with the good gesture, assuring them of the community’s cooperation.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with journalists commended the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft for the gesture.
Mr  Kurnap Gamde a resident of the community, said, “I want to thank them immensely for the outreach. “
In his words I ,had my eyes checked and I was given drugs and medicated glasses.
Another beneficiary who gave her name as Dinchi  Nathan said, “I was actually going to the hospital in the morning when I saw their signpost. I said, Let me come and see what is happening, and here I have received the treatment I wanted to get in the hospital. God bless them.” She thanked the Navy Commander for the free treatment.
She also commended the Navy for the free distribution of mosquitoes net.
