Seeks tenure extension for her

More youths of the Host community of the Yakubu Gowon University Abuja have declared their unwavering support for the acting vice chancellor of the institution Professor Patricia Lar for her academic leadership, administrative oversight, community engagement in the past few months.
The group also appealed to the Federal government to extend her tenure in order for her to continue the good works, she is doing in the university.
In a press release made available to newsmen and signed by Gwandara Musa and Gabriel Auta Dauda ,they emphasized that some of the Youths of the FCT have keenly observed Prof Lar’s leadership, describing her as a visionary leader with a humane, responsible, and inclusive leadership style, making her the ideal Professor to lead the Yakubu Gowon University into the future.
They noted that Prof Lar has demonstrated passion, commitment, and the capacity necessary to drive the University’s development.
The statement reads that Prof. Lar has swiftly corrected injustices in the institution which existed in the past , as long-denied staff promotions had been restored, and students who had been muzzled were now finding their voice with a credible democratically elected representative students’ leadership.
Professor Lar is delivering on the mandate given to her by the Federal Government as her interim leadership has already made positive impacts in the areas of academic reforms, infrastructure development, governance restructuring, and student-centered initiatives
On industrial partnerships and projects, Prof. Lar, who is passionate about public-private partnerships, has attracted several corporate bodies and signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for the construction of hostels, research and agricultural facilities, and entrepreneurship hubs.
Prof. Lar’s leadership as Vice Chancellor has also attracted funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to equip laboratories in the biomedical sciences and engineering departments with state-of-the-art research and diagnostic facilities,the Youths added .
” As a reputable global scientist, Prof. Lar is committed to boosting the global ranking of Yakubu Gowon University through cutting-edge research.”
The Acting Vice Chancellor has facilitated the restoration of industrial peace in the university as her administration has reconciled various university-based unions including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

We are appealing to the the President Bola Tinubu led administration to support her by extending her tenure in order for her to continue to do the excellent job she is currently doing in the institution.
