The President General, Igbo Community Association (ICA) Jos, Chief Mike Okunonke, has assured the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, that Igbos will vote massively for him in the 2027 general elections.

Okunonke said that Igbos in the State can not afford to turn a blind eye to the kind gesture and developmental strides of the Governor in the State.

He said Mutfwang has ignited a business-friendly environment for the state, especially for the Ndi-Igbo.

“Roads like Apata (a popular Igbo dominated area) which has been abandoned for over 10 years were fixed in a few months of Governor Mutfwang’s administration. Utan Road, Nanmua, Jenta Adamu, and many others.

“Constructions are going on everywhere and Igbos feel safer and more secure in this administration,” Okunonke said.

The Igbo President General stated this on Thursday in Jos, when the Governor paid a condolence visit to a giant Pipe manufacturer, Nelson Mkparu, over the death of his wife.

Mkparu is the owner of NELMACO Global Resources, who lost his wife, Ifeoma Mkparu, to the cold hands of death a few months ago, our correspondent reports.

However, Okunonke praised the Governor for finding time to condole with the Mkparu’s family.

He continued: “The gesture demonstrated by the Governor shows his simplicity and love for the Igbo community.

“The friendly environment made possible by the Governor for citizens to coexist and thrive in their businesses will motivate the Igbos to vote massively for him come 2027 general elections, ” he emphasized.

Earlier, while consoling the family of Mkparu, Mutfwang, who was accompanied by top government functionaries, prayed to God to grant NELMACO the fortitude to bear the loss.

He also prayed that God would grant Mkparu the grace haven left with the task of caring for the children alone.

“Take heart for the loss of your wife, which you lost at a very young age of 49. Only God will comfort you and grant you the wisdom to take care of the children.

“May the heavens welcome the soul of our daughter with the same generosity and kindness he bestowed upon humanity throughout her years on earth,” he said.

Mutfwang lauded the Igbo towering statures in the State, saying that the government has high regard for the Igbo community.

According to him: “It is a community that has always stood for Plateau. They stand with the State even at difficult times. If the Igbos have not occupied a good space in the State, a lot would have gone wrong.

“We appreciate that you have made Plateau your home. It is because you made Plateau your home, that you have invested billions in the State”, he said.

Responding on behalf of Mkparu’s family, an Igbo Chieftain, Mr Anselm Uzochukwu, said the presence of the Governor shows a mark of honour for the departed and also a deep source of comfort and strength to the mourning family.
