Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Langtang North Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed the Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, for re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made during a stakeholders’ engagement with the Senator in Langtang as part of his ongoing constituency interactions across the Southern Senatorial District.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Lalong briefed party leaders on the state of the APC in Plateau State as well as his legislative activities and achievements in the Senate. He expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their unwavering support, noting that their cooperation has enabled him to attract critical projects and facilitate the appointment of qualified sons and daughters of the district into various federal positions.

The Senator reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that all local governments within the Southern Senatorial District are equitably carried along in development efforts, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on the recent defection of Governor Caleb Mutfwang from the PDP to the APC, Senator Lalong assured party members that no one would be sidelined, stressing that the development has the blessing of President Tinubu, who consistently advocates inclusion rather than division.

He disclosed that ongoing consultations are addressing grey areas to ensure that new entrants into the party do not displace loyal members who sustained the APC through challenging periods of vilification and political adversity.

In his remarks, a member of the Elders’ Forum, Gen. Jon Temlong, commended Senator Lalong for his leadership and steadfast stewardship of the party over the years, particularly for creating opportunities for Plateau indigenes, including those from Langtang, to serve at the federal level.

He, however, urged party leadership to ensure inclusiveness, unity, peace and justice in light of recent political developments.

Other stakeholders, including Chairman, Langtang North APC Stakeholders, Hon. Zingven Ramnap; Chairman, Jos Stakeholders, Abel Gwattau; former Commissioner, Hon. Brian Dadi; Member representing Langtang North/North, Hon. Abel Nimchak; Hon. Dina Lar; Hon. Daladi Dashe; Hon. Mamzu Zitta the APC Chairman, Langtang North, all passed a vote of confidence in Senator Lalong’s leadership, describing his representation in the Senate as impactful and beneficial to the people.

They expressed optimism that his continuity in the Senate would further accelerate development in the Southern Zone, particularly in the areas of power and energy, agriculture, and the establishment of a federal institution in Langtang.

Consequently, a motion endorsing Senator Lalong for a second term was moved and unanimously adopted by the stakeholders.

Earlier, Senator Lalong paid a traditional homage to the Ponzhi Zinni and also visited Rev. Sunday Lakong to condole with him over the death of his son
