‎
‎On the 28 of January, 2026 the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi led a contingent of Police Operatives on raid of black spots within Asaba Metropolis, Zenith Hotel along Nnebisi Road and Destar Hotel along Abraka Road, Asaba. These hotels run as a brothel and centre for trafficking young girls into prostitution, as against the Hotel functions they were supposed to serve.
‎
‎A total number of 145 suspects were arrested at Zenith Hotel, which led to the recovery of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, cannabis, codeine, swinol amongst other intoxicating items, and also the rescue of a 2-year old boy at the said Zenith Hotel, whose mother kept him inside the same room which she uses to engage in sexual activities with different men, right in the young boys presence. Similarly, a total number of 85 suspects were arrested at Destar Hotel, along Abraka market, also in possession of illicit drugs and substances, thus bringing the total number of suspects arrested to 230.
‎
‎The owners of both hotels, their directing staff and other individuals who preliminarily investigation have revealed to have prima facie case to answer have been charged to court, while efforts are being intensified with the Government at various levels to ensure the building remains sealed up and taken over to prevent its continuous operation on illegal activities.
‎
‎Since the assumption of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola as the 23rd Commissioner of Police, he has charged officers and men to work assiduously towards curbing the menace of manufacturing, distribution and consumption of hard drugs, which is on a rise within the State and also combat the trend of human trafficking for prostitution purposes across the state.

Similar operations of this nature have been carried out to sanitize the State. On 5th January, 2026, operatives of the Command Raiders Team raided a black spot at Pinnacle Junction, along Asaba/Benin Expressway where they arrested 53 suspects and recovered large quantities of illicit drugs. Also, on the 6th January, 2026, operatives of the Commands Quick Response Team raided a warehouse where illicit substances in large quantities were being sold and distributed, leading to the arrest of 3 suspects who are directly connected in the chain of distribution.

‎These tactics has not only began to yield positive fruits with these significant achievements, it has also served as a warning to those indulging in such criminal acts across the State, that the Police will not relent until the State is rid of criminal elements. This is also a reassurance to stakeholders that sting operations of this nature will be extended across the State to bolster security of lives and property in all the nooks and crannies of Delta State.
