Kingdom Kids Klub (K3), a leading organisation caring for orphaned and vulnerable children, on Friday celebrated its 15th anniversary with colourful events and the unveiling of a new logo.

The milestone highlighted the group’s inspiring transformation from a small orphanage supporting only 18 children to a strong advocate for family-based care across Nigeria and Africa.

Founded in February 2006 by Pastor Sandra Dirmwa Chikan who drew inspiration from losing both her parents at a young age K3 began as a humble effort in Jos, Plateau State has since grown into a key player in trauma-informed care, education, family reunification, and pushing for alternatives to long-term institutional care.

The organisation focuses on quality rather than quantity, giving every child genuine love, emotional stability, spiritual guidance, and personal attention.

It offers immediate, short-term, and medium-term help to children hit by violent conflicts, domestic violence, terrorism, and other crises.

It operates facilities like Destiny Home while prioritising safe family environments.

Under Pastor Chikan’s leadership as Founder and Global Director, K3 has introduced programmes such as the “Stand Out Aging Out Africa (AOA) Mentoring Network,” teen camps, support for youth transitioning out of care, scholarships for higher education, and partnerships with groups like the Association of Orphanages and Homes in Nigeria (ASOHON).

In recent years, the focus has shifted strongly to sustainable, family-centred models.

These include building permanent sites for support, partnering with communities to avoid unnecessary institutionalisation, economically empowering caregivers to keep families together, and promoting safe reintegration into biological or kinship homes.

The goal is clear: help every child grow up in a “forever family” instead of institutions.

Speaking at the anniversary event, Pastor Sandra Dirmwa Chikan expressed deep gratitude: “This 15-year milestone is a testament to God’s faithfulness and the collective efforts of many who believe in restoring hope.

We’ve seen transformed lives, restored families, and brighter futures, yet the work continues as we advocate for every child to belong in a forever family.”

Board of Trustees Chairman Grace Dongkum praised divine guidance and the founder’s total dedication. “From the early days of children’s hangouts in 2007 and fundraising dinners in 2009 with the initial group of 18 children, her focus was always on quality ensuring every child feels the presence of God and the love of people genuinely invested in them,” she said

.Dongkum added that K3 is now entering a new global phase and called on more people to get involved:

“I encourage you to engage, contribute, and invest in this space so that together, we can grow it far beyond where it is now.”
