There comes a time when destiny beckons, demanding courage, clarity, and the will to earn a seat at the decision-making table. For Olumide Kola-Lawal, that time is now.

After deep reflection, wide consultations, and an unwavering belief in the promise of the people, he has formally declared his intent to contest for the Lagos Central Senatorial District in Nigeria’s National Assembly.

He steps forward not as a career politician, but as a product of service, strategy, and development. Shaped by the realities of Nigeria and seasoned by years of working in development, building systems, and designing sustainable solutions, he understands that progress is not accidental. It is engineered, negotiated, and fought for with intellect and integrity.

Nigerian politics, he observes, is dynamic, layered, fast-moving, and often unpredictable. Yet it remains a space where bold ideas, driven by people-centered values, can still transform lives. He is entering the race with a clear understanding of that complexity and with the resolve to navigate it strategically, ethically, and courageously.

Lagos Central, described as the heartbeat of enterprise, culture, and innovation, deserves representation that matches its energy – leadership that listens deeply, thinks critically, and acts decisively. The district, in his view, needs a voice that understands governance, appreciates policy, and knows how to translate ideas into impact. A voice that bridges generations. A voice that is accessible, accountable, and unafraid.

OKL believes that young people deserve opportunity, not promises. Entrepreneurs deserve enabling policies, not bottlenecks. Communities deserve safety, infrastructure, and dignity. Governance, he argues, should be transparent, inclusive, and measurable.

For him, this is not a journey of ambition alone but a commitment to service – bringing development thinking into lawmaking and ensuring that the concerns of Lagos Central are not merely heard but acted upon.

He seeks the wisdom of elders who have laid the foundation and invites the energy of the youth who carry the future. To every resident of Lagos Central, he asks for trust.

In his vision, the Senate should reflect the brilliance of its people. It is time, he suggests, to move from the margins to the table and to prove that intellect, integrity, and innovation still have a place in Nigerian politics.

The journey, he declares, begins now.

Tomide Olarenwaju is a Party Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and writes from Lagos Island.
