Exactly one year ago, the people of Langtang North Local Government Area entrusted me with their mandate as Executive Chairman a sacred responsibility I have carried out with vision, humility, and purpose.

The Conviction Administration has redefined what purposeful leadership means at the grassroots level. In a dynamic governance landscape where challenges constantly test sincerity and strength, we have within one year demonstrated uncommon commitment, focus, and genuine passion for the solemn pact we entered into with our people.

Our administration is anchored on equity, accountability, transparency, and people-centered governance. We have made visible progress across key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, social welfare, and security, among others.

The story of the Conviction Administration is one of courage, consistency, and compassion, a story that reflects a promise made and kept: to serve selflessly, protect diligently, and uplift collectively.

Recognising that a healthy population is the foundation of development, our administration made health one of its foremost priorities. In just one year, tangible progress has been recorded across communities, breathing new life into the local healthcare system. We took bold steps to address the shortage of health personnel in rural areas, ensuring that residents in remote communities now have better access to quality healthcare services.

Through proactive outreach and swift response to disease outbreaks, the council successfully curtailed the spread of cholera and strengthened preventive health awareness. Health commodities and relief materials were distributed to vulnerable communities, saving lives and rebuilding public confidence in the local health system. Environmental sanitation and hygiene campaigns were revived across wards to reduce disease incidence and promote community participation in maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Under the Conviction Administration, Langtang North ranked Number One in the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) exercise in Plateau State, a clear testament to our dedication and efficiency. Our approach to healthcare goes beyond physical structures; it focuses on the dignity, safety, and well-being of every citizen.

Education remains another major priority. Recognising that the future of Langtang North rests on its educated youth, the administration has continued to invest heavily in infrastructure and human capital. To create a safer and more conducive workspace, we renovated the Education Secretariat, which had been neglected for years, restoring it to a modern and befitting administrative standard.

We also addressed the shortage of classrooms, particularly in communities like Somung, ensuring that pupils have adequate learning spaces. In collaboration with the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (PSUBEB), we facilitated the distribution of furniture, plastic chairs, and tables to newly constructed classrooms to enhance learning comfort and quality.

Teachers, being the backbone of education, have received timely salaries and incentives to boost morale. We have also sustained training and professional development programmes to improve teaching standards. In a remarkable show of support for young scholars, the council procured 1,000 JAMB e-pins for students across Langtang North, easing the financial burden on parents and expanding access to higher education.

To promote educational inclusiveness, scholarships for postgraduate studies were awarded to indigent students, ensuring that no one is denied learning opportunities due to poverty. Through these deliberate interventions, we are nurturing a new generation of informed, skilled, and responsible citizens.

As agriculture remains the mainstay of our local economy, the council procured and distributed fertilizers to farmers at subsidised rates, easing the financial burden on rural farmers and boosting productivity. These efforts have strengthened food security, improved income stability, and revitalised the local economy.

The social welfare arm of the Conviction Administration has focused on improving livelihoods and restoring dignity to vulnerable groups. Through various empowerment initiatives, small-scale entrepreneurs and youths have received support to enhance self-reliance and reduce unemployment. Widows, orphans, and the elderly have benefited from palliatives, food aid, and healthcare support, reflecting the council’s deep sense of empathy and social responsibility.

We also reviewed upward the salaries of our dedicated street cleaners, our mothers who ensure a clean environment daily. Furthermore, the administration has sustained cultural festivals and traditional events that promote peace, unity, and preserve our rich cultural heritage. Through these people-oriented programmes, the Conviction Administration has restored hope and brought governance closer to the people.

Upon assuming office, one of our first actions was to revive Nggapak Unity FM 93.1. We successfully secured a permanent broadcasting licence and commercial approval, ensuring sustainability and strengthening the voice of our people through community radio.

Peace and security remain the bedrock of development. Under my watch, Langtang North has witnessed renewed stability and calm. Regular security dialogues, community engagements, and peace meetings have helped prevent conflicts and ensure early detection of threats. We deepened partnerships with security agencies, traditional rulers, and vigilante groups to promote intelligence sharing and coordinated responses to crime.

The council also provided material and logistical support to the police, military, and local security outfits for effective patrol and surveillance. These efforts have greatly improved safety, allowing business and community life to thrive once again.

To build a sustainable local economy, we have strengthened the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) system by blocking leakages and curbing illicit financial flows. This has positioned the council for greater financial stability and improved service delivery.

While the achievements of the past year are remarkable, I believe this is only the beginning. My governance philosophy remains rooted in sustainability, inclusiveness, and accountability. The next phase will witness expanded youth employment programmes, increased educational investment, improved healthcare facilities, and enhanced agricultural interventions. Our dream is to make Langtang North a model of peace, growth, and good governance — not just in Plateau State, but across Nigeria.

In one year, the Conviction Administration has proven that leadership is not about titles, but about impact, empathy, and integrity. This administration has brought renewed hope, visible transformation, and restored trust between the people and their government.

As the Conviction Mandate continues, the journey ahead promises even greater accomplishments. Together, we shall continue to build a Langtang North that is peaceful, prosperous, and progressive.

Thank you all.

Signed:
Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem
Executive Chairman, Langtang North Local Government Council
