At least, 50 houses including schools and worship centers were on Sunday reportely destroyed by a windstorm which wreaked havoc in Menkaat community (Shimankar district) of Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State,
Our correspondent gathered that the devastating rainstorm that accompanied the rain left a trail of destruction in its wake early Sunday morning.
Residents of the area told our correspondent that about 50 houses had their roofs blown off, while several buildings collapsed.
A resident of the affected community Mr .Lawrence Longwalk lamented the incident and called for intervention from relevant authorities.
“Our people have been hit seriously by a rainstorm. It happened early hour of Sunday morning “
He added that some worship centers and schools were also destroyed by the rainstorm
In his words “From the level of damage, the people need urgent help,” he said
” Two Primary Schools and a worship centers in Shimankar was completely blown down by rainstorm ,he added .
