The Agatu Local Government Council of Benue State has awarded contracts for the construction of three strategic roads across the council area, with work expected to commence next week.

The roads are Oshigbudu–Atakpa Road, Market Square–Onchali Road and Adokpa–Och’ Adogoji Road.

The Executive Chairman of the council, Melvin James Ejeh, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen, saying the projects were part of efforts to improve road connectivity and infrastructure across Agatu communities.

According to him, the roads would be constructed with asphalt and concrete drainage systems to provide safer, more durable and better connectivity for residents.

He said, “A promise made to the people of Agatu is a promise we are committed to fulfilling.”

“Yesterday, I awarded a contract to M/s RCSY Construction Nig. Limited for the construction of three strategic roads across the Agatu Local Government Area.

“They are Oshigbudu–Atakpa Road, Market Square–Onchali Road and Adokpa–Och’ Adogoji Road.

“Construction work will begin next week.
“These will be quality asphalt roads with concrete drainage systems, designed to provide safer, more durable, and better connectivity for our communities.”

“This will mark the completion of the Oshigbudu–Atakpa section of the Oshigbudu–Ogbaulu Odugbeho Road.”

“We extend our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, for granting the Agatu Local Government Council the independence and support needed to operate effectively at the local government level

.
“This represents a significant milestone. For the first time since its establishment, the Agatu Local Government Council is constructing quality asphalt roads within Agatu.

“We also sincerely thank Honourable Ojotu Ojema, Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his intervention and for constructing a significant portion of the Oshigbudu–Atakpa Road with quality materials.

“This has helped reduce the overall cost of the road construction.
“This is what keeping promises looks like.
