The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has officially announced that the 2026 Mobile Advert Permits are now ready for issuance to the general public, corporate organizations, and logistics operators.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Council urged all owners of branded vehicles, including cars, trucks, and delivery vans, as well as motorcycles and dispatch riders, to commence the process of obtaining or renewing their permits to ensure seamless operations in the coming year.

The statement, signed by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Public Affairs to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Madaki, emphasized that AMAC is the sole authority constitutionally empowered to collect mobile advert rates within its jurisdiction.

“The collection of mobile advertisement permits is a function clearly vested in the Local Government and Area Councils by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended),” the statement read.

“We operate under the established AMAC Mobile Advert Bylaws, which provide the legal framework for these collections.”

The Council issued a stern warning to the public to be wary of individuals or groups claiming to represent the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration or other agencies for the purpose of collecting mobile advert permit.

The Council clarified that AMAC officially dissociates itself from any such persons.

The Council further noted that any permit or payment made to an agency other than AMAC for mobile advertisements within the municipal area would be considered invalid and non-recognizable during enforcement.

To curb the activities of fraudsters and “touts” harassing motorists, the Council has implemented strict payment protocols: “that, only an official accounts and all payments must be made directly into designated AMAC Revenue Accounts”.

Therefore, business owners are warned never to pay money into personal bank accounts or hand over cash to individuals on the road.

Only stickers and certificates issued through the official AMAC portal and verified by the Council’s revenue department will be honored.

The Council urged all stakeholders—particularly logistics companies with large fleets of branded motorcycles and vehicles—to visit the AMAC Secretariat to regularize their status.

“Our goal is to ensure orderliness and support the business community. By complying early and paying through the right channels, you protect your business from unnecessary harassment and contribute to the development of infrastructure within the Council,” the report concluded.

“Enforcement for the 2026 cycle is expected to commence in the first quarter of the year, and the Council has directed security agencies to arrest any impostors found impersonating AMAC revenue officials on MobileAdvertPermits”.
