Nanmwa Jimmy Cheto, son of the late Jimmy Zintim Cheto, has declared his intention to contest for the Langtang South State Constituency seat in the Plateau State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Cheto, who hails from Turaki Ward in Langtang South Local Government Area, made his declaration in a statement on Wednesday, saying his ambition is driven by a desire to serve and reposition the constituency through inclusive and people-oriented representation.

The aspirant, contesting under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stressed that Nigeria requires a new crop of leaders committed to integrity, competence, and transparency in governance.

He decried the marginalisation of youths in the political process, noting that young people have for long been excluded from meaningful participation in decision-making despite their numerical strength and potential.

According to him, his “Vision 2027” agenda is centred on youth development, empowerment, and active involvement in governance, adding that the time has come for young Nigerians to take up leadership responsibilities.

Cheto also called on stakeholders across the constituency, including youths and elders, to support his aspiration, assuring that he would prioritise accountability, inclusiveness, and sustainable development if elected.

His father, the late Cheto, was a prominent engineer and politician who served as Director of Engineering Services at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and contested for the Plateau State governorship in previous election cycles.
