The Community Safety Vanguard, a foremost civil society organisation committed to the promotion of peace, stability and citizen security across Nigeria, commends Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, for his outstanding leadership of an intelligence-driven national security architecture that has consistently delivered decisive victories to our gallant troops at the frontline.
In recent months, the security agencies, under a well-coordinated intelligence-led strategy, have recorded remarkable successes in intercepting and seizing large caches of logistical supplies, arms, ammunition, fuel and communication equipment destined for terrorist groups. These operations have effectively crippled the supply chains that once sustained insurgent activities in various parts of the country.
Mallam Ribadu’s approach is hitting the terrorists right at the heart of their operations, denying them the resources and freedom of movement they previously enjoyed. We particularly applaud his tireless efforts in championing synergy and collaboration among all security agencies. This unprecedented inter-agency coordination has translated into tangible victories for our men and women in uniform who daily risk their lives in defence of the nation.
We equally salute all the security agencies – the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Defence Intelligence Agency, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other sister agencies – for their round-the-clock commitment and sacrifice in the fight to rid Nigeria of insurgency and terrorism.
While we celebrate these gains, we call on the Federal Government to pay greater attention to the welfare of our security personnel. Adequate welfare remains the strongest morale booster for those confronting insurgents in the trenches. In this regard, we strongly recommend the immediate establishment of a sustainable and comprehensive insurance policy for all personnel on the frontline. Such a policy must guarantee long-term security, education, healthcare and dignified livelihoods for the families of our fallen heroes.
We further advocate for an even more proactive, intelligence-led operational doctrine that focuses on forestalling terrorist attacks before they occur, rather than merely repelling them after they have been launched.
To the National Security Adviser, we enjoin you to remain steadfast. Ignore the distractions, the noise and the needless criticisms. Focus solely on the sacred mandate of securing the Nigerian state and protecting its citizens. History will remember and honour your service.
Finally, we express profound gratitude to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration for the various morale-boosting initiatives already introduced for security personnel. These measures demonstrate a clear commitment to the welfare of those who defend our nation and reinforce the bond of trust between the government and the frontline defenders of our democracy.
We stand ready to continue supporting every genuine effort aimed at restoring permanent peace and security to every part of Nigeria.
