In a renewed demonstration of commitment to quality basic education, the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Pirfa Tyem, has approved the distribution of instructional learning materials to 160 schools across the Local Government Area as schools resume for the new academic term.

The donation, which targets 142 public primary schools while extending benefits to a few private schools, underscores the Chairman’s resolve to strengthen teaching and learning at the grassroots.

The materials include 160 units each of number charts, weather charts, shapes, and other essential instructional aids designed to improve classroom engagement and learning outcomes for pupils.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Chairman, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Shalkur Haruna Mamdam, said the intervention was informed by observed gaps in classroom teaching aids in public schools.

Langtang North Local Government Council said “We noticed that some of these teaching needs are not readily available for pupils.”

The idea is to bring instructional materials directly into the classrooms so that our pupils can see, touch, and experience learning first-hand—similar to what obtains in many private schools,” he said.

Hon. Shalkur emphasized that the exercise represents the fulfillment of a promise made by the Chairman to the people of Langtang North.

“We are here to deliver on a promise. Promise made, promise kept is the conviction that drives this administration.

Although we intended to deliver before resumption, doing so at this point remains timely and impactful. On behalf of the government, we present these materials with the hope that they will enhance understanding and improve teaching experiences for our pupils,” he added.

Receiving the materials, the Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Mrs. Tabitha Wazhi, commended Hon. Pirfa Tyem for prioritizing education and consistently supporting the welfare of education staff.

“This administration has shown uncommon commitment to the education sector, both in staff welfare and in making learning easier for pupils at the grassroots. These materials will go a long way in improving classroom delivery,” she said.

School heads and teachers across the Local Government also expressed gratitude. A classroom teacher, Changcit Selchak, alongside a Headmistress from a school in Zamko, Changcit Selchum, described the intervention as timely and highly needed.

“These are exactly the materials we need in our classrooms. They will help our learners improve their understanding. We truly appreciate the Local Government Chairman for his focus on education and the visible improvements in the Education Department, including structures,” they noted.

The latest intervention adds to the growing list of education-focused development strides under the leadership of Hon. Pirfa Tyem, reaffirming his administration’s people-centered approach and strong belief that quality education remains the foundation for sustainable development in Langtang North.
