Hon. Adamu Aliyu, member representing Jos North-North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, has strongly condemned the brutal attack on Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area.
The attack, carried out by unidentified gunmen on Sunday, resulted in the tragic loss of several lives and left many others injured.
In a statement issued on Monday,, the lawmaker described the incident as “senseless, cowardly, and a direct assault on the peace-loving people of Jos North.”
Hon. Dr. Aliyu expressed profound sorrow over the killings and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the victims and quick recovery for the wounded.
The Honourable Member called on all security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army and other relevant stakeholders, to immediately and thoroughly investigate the matter, fish out the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice without delay.“
We cannot allow this cycle of violence and bloodshed to continue in our dear state.
The security agencies must act swiftly and decisively to apprehend those responsible for this dastardly act and bring them to face the full wrath of the law,” he stated.
Hon. Aliyu appealed to the people of Jos North, particularly the youths, to remain calm, law-abiding and refrain from any form of reprisal or self-help that could escalate the already tense situation.“
“I urge our youths and residents of Jos North to exercise maximum restraint and allow the security agencies to carry out their constitutional duties.
Taking the law into our own hands will only worsen the problem and bring more hardship to our communities,” he emphasised.
He joined well-meaning citizens in praying for the restoration of lasting peace in Jos North and Plateau State at large, saying: “May the Almighty God comfort the bereaved families, heal the injured, and grant us the peace that surpasses all understanding. Enough is enough.
We must all rise above violence and work together towards unity, tolerance, and sustainable development in Plateau State.
Hon. Adamu Aliyu reaffirmed his commitment to the security and welfare of his constituents and assured them that he would continue to engage relevant authorities at all levels for improved security architecture in the area.
He commended the Plateau State Government under Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for the swift imposition of a 48-hour curfew in Jos North to restore order and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
