My brothers and sisters on the Plateau, there is too much misinformation flying around about the possibility of our dear Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, joining the APC.

Let me say this clearly:

From historical precedence, a sitting governor NEVER begins the decamping process through a National Chairman or state party leaders. It is ALWAYS settled at the highest level of political negotiations by the cabals at the Presidential Villa — and only after Mr. President gives the nod does the National Chairman receive the governor.

That has been the pattern for every governor who joined the APC in recent years — from Umahi to Ayade to Matawalle and others. ✔️

A clear demonstration of the powers of the “cabal” within the Villa could be seen in how Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda himself became the National Chairman of the APC.

The cabal had previously met and agreed that he should take up the reins of the party’s leadership before he was announced as the National Chairman. Prof. Yilwatda couldn’t have been the National Chairman by virtue of his political clout, or even that of his predecessor.

So this noise about “proper channel” for Mutfwang to join the APC is simply ignorance of how national politics works. Let us not embarrass ourselves publicly, please.

Now to the main point:

Governor Mutfwang is NOT joining the APC out of weakness, fear, or loss of support. He remains one of the most result-driven and developmental governors in the North-Central today. His projects, reforms, and administrative discipline are visible to everyone.

If he eventually joins the APC, it will be because of Plateau’s interest — to align with the Centre, attract federal attention, deepen development, and give Plateau people a stronger voice nationally. That is leadership, not desperation. 💛🤝

It’s imperative to note that the President and Commander-in-Chief, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had long wanted Governor Mutfwang to join the APC, and many attempts had been made to that effect without achieving the desired result.

Now that the governor seems to have succumbed after high level negotiations, I believe instructions have been handed down to the National Chairman to receive him formally. It’s at this stage that Governor Mutfwang can meet with the National Chairman and key APC Stakeholders on the Plateau, to fine-tune the modalities for his proper decamping.

As progressives, we should welcome value, competence, and credibility into our party — not create unnecessary barriers.

I’ll conclude by still calling for calm within the PDP supporters on the Plateau. They must stop mocking the APC members that are ranting about the Governor’s anticipated entry into their party’s fold.

In similar vein, I wish to advice my fellow APC supporters to accept the current political reality of the Governor’s likely defection, and move on.

Let love, unity, and maturity lead us. Plateau must win!
