National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, received a heroic welcome in his hometown of Dungung, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Saturday as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, joined him and other dignitaries at the Moslun 2026 cultural festival.

Residents of the community rolled out the drums to celebrate their son as he returned home for the annual cultural festival, with cheers, chants of solidarity and goodwill messages dominating the atmosphere.

The event drew a large gathering of indigenes, political associates, religious leaders and well-wishers who converged to celebrate the sacred Moslun tradition, marking the transition from the dry season to the planting season.

Speaking at the gathering, Prof. Nentawe appreciated the people for the warm reception and reiterated his commitment to the growth and development of the community and Plateau State at large.

He noted that no matter how far one journeys in life, home remains sacred and should never be forgotten.

The Speaker, accompanied by the House Majority Leader, commended the Dungung community for preserving the Moslun cultural heritage, describing it as a symbol of unity, faith and communal renewal.

He also praised Prof. Nentawe for maintaining strong ties with his community despite his national assignment.

Daniel conveyed the solidarity of the Plateau State House of Assembly and noted that the festival remains a strong platform for cultural preservation, community renewal and engagement between leaders and the grassroots.

Earlier, Prof. Nentawe took the Speaker round the ongoing construction of the COCIN Church in Dungung, where the Speaker expressed satisfaction with the level of work.

The festival featured traditional rites, cultural displays and vibrant performances showcasing the identity and agricultural heritage of the Ngas people.
