The Northern Renaissance Network on Sunday praised Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, the two-term lawmaker representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, for announcing he will not seek re-election to the House of Representatives in 2027, describing the move as a bold step toward greater youth participation in Nigerian governance.

In a press statement issued in Abuja by spokesperson Agada Abu Theophilus, ANIPR, the group hailed Dasuki’s decision as an act of patriotism that “reinforces the clamor for youth inclusion and represents a new Nigeria where young people are the drivers of innovative leadership.”

Dasuki, a prominent voice in the National Assembly and interim chairman of the newly launched Future Is Now Project, a youth inclusion initiative unveiled on October 1, 2025, confirmed his decision in a personal statement, calling it a “personal sacrifice” to create space for younger Nigerians.

The Future Is Now Project, which Dasuki leads on an interim basis, has called for at least 70 percent of House of Representatives seats in the 2027 elections to be occupied by Nigerians under the age of 40.

The Northern Renaissance Network commended Dasuki’s alignment with the movement’s goals, urging other lawmakers and political leaders to follow suit by shelving their own ambitions in favor of “qualified, competent, innovative, and capable young people.”

The group pledged to mobilize 20 million young Nigerians in support of the Future Is Now Project, asserting that the initiative will soon ensure “adequate representation of young people in the governance structure of the country.”
