There are strong indications that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may have retained the duo of Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed and Senator Samuel Anyanwu for the positions of national Chairman and Secretary respectively. This follows the successful screening of both Abdulrahman and Anyanwu for the positions as unopposed and singular candidates by the FCT Minister Wike Aligned Group of the People’s Demonstrate Party PDP.
Others who equally retained their positions include; Hon Umar Bature the National Organising Secretary, Ajibade Kamaldeen as nation legal officer, Ambassador Ibrahim Bala as youth leader, Prof Ogunshe Adenike as national women leader and Jungudo Haruna Mohammed as national publicity officer.
The Screening exercise took place on Monday at Wuse, FCT Abuja amidst jubilant crowd of supporters who throned the venue in their beautiful party colours to register their solidarity.
Addressing the 20 out of 22 aspirants for the various officers, Chairman of the 2026 national convention screening subcommit, Rt Hon Kingsley Chinda said the fact of Abdulrahman, Anyanwu and others being unopposed candidates is a huge vote of confidence innthemnhaving served the party well in times of turbulence and crisis and also that they provided effective party leadership.
He added that even though they are unopposed, the committee will still verify all relevant documents to ensure that they are all correct.
He pledged the determination and commitment of the committee towards justice, fairness, equity and openness.
He further appreciated the officers who he said, ” have done creditably well in their democratic service to mankind and nation building and urged them not to relent as opposition in order to constructively engage the ruling party.
The Screening is expected to continue on Friday ahead of the Sunday Convention following the Appeal court Judgement which nullified the 2025 Ibadan PDP Convention
