A frontline governorship aspirant in Plateau State, Hon Jude Dakur, has formally picked the nomination form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signaling his entry into the race ahead of the next governorship election in the state.

Dakur, who obtained the form on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, declared his readiness to participate in the party’s primaries and campaign vigorously across the state, expressing confidence in his chances of securing the party’s ticket.

Speaking shortly after picking the form, the aspirant said his ambition is driven by a commitment to reposition Plateau State for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

He vowed to evolve practical modalities to tackle insecurity across the state, noting that peace and stability remain critical to meaningful development.

Dakur pledged to always put the interests of Plateau people first, stressing that governance under his leadership would prioritize the welfare of citizens and ensure equitable distribution of resources.

He noted that Plateau State is richly endowed with mineral resources and vast agricultural potential, insisting that these sectors must be properly harnessed to drive economic growth.

According to him, mining and agriculture remain the mainstay of the state’s economy and should be strategically leveraged to ensure that development reaches every part of Plateau, particularly rural communities.

The governorship hopeful emphasized that rather than placing outright restrictions on mining activities, his administration would focus on creating a conducive and hazard-free environment for both artisanal and professional miners to operate effectively.

He explained that proper regulation, enforcement of safety standards, and support for miners would not only boost productivity but also reduce illegal operations and associated security concerns.

On insecurity, Dakur assured that his administration would adopt a multi-dimensional approach, including strengthening collaboration with security agencies, investing in intelligence gathering, and supporting community-based security initiatives.

He further stated that if elected he would tackle unemployment, poverty, and make youth empowerment programmes a priority.
