In the face of relentless killings and mindless destruction of property in Mangu LGA of Plateau State, Senator Diket Plang, who represents Plateau Central at the National Assembly, has expressed his deep concern. In a resolute Press release, Senator Diket Plang strongly condemned the brutal murder of predominantly farmers, women, and children in the rural settlement of Mangu LGA. Consequently, agricultural and economic activities have been brought to a standstill in the affected areas.

Senator Diket Plang emphasizes the crucial roles that government elected officials, security personnel, traditional rulers, and all relevant bodies and agencies must play in ensuring the safety of the people. This entails intensifying efforts to curb the menace that currently plagues the affected areas.

The senator laments not only the devastating impact these killings have on the economy of the state but also the immeasurable suffering inflicted upon innocent citizens who were peacefully pursuing their activities before being forcibly displaced from their ancestral homes and lands.

While acknowledging the government’s efforts, as well as those of traditional rulers, relevant stakeholders, and security apparatus in the state, Senator Diket Plang reveals that he and other senators have visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. During the meeting, the president expressed his concern over the security situation in Mangu LGA, after being briefed by the current governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr.Caleb Mutfwang. The senator thus calls upon all stakeholders to come together, united in purpose, to tackle the security threat that looms over Plateau.
