Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS) on Wednesday said the service has educated no fewer than 200 tax payers from different sectors in the state on integrated revenue system.
Mr Arlat Dashe, the Chairman, PSIRS , said this during a workshop for tax payers in the state yesterday in Jos.
“All you need to do is to be captured and be given a TIN number and the process is generated and payment is then made online,” Dashe said.
He said that the aim of the workshop was to educate tax payers on how to use the available integrated platform for payment.
The chairman said that as soon as payment was made online a receipt would be generated and printed out to show proof of payment.
He further said that it would not involve going to the bank or the revenue office to make payment as it could be done within the confines of ones home.
Dashe said the the new payment platform was customer-friendly and protects payers from fraudulent agents.
“Tax offenders would be prosecuted as stated by the revenue law; it is the the duty of the tax payer to get registered, make payment at the distribution platform and keep proper records.
“The process is efficient and effective as it is done by the tax payer, tax payment is an obligation,” he said.
Dashe explained that revenue generated from tax was used to develop the state and create enabling environment for businesses to grow.
Some of the participants commended the effort of the service, saying it had helped to address the challenges of payment.
Mr Maigida Ibrahim, Chairman, Traders Union Jos North, a participant, said that the payment system would encourage various unions in the state to pay tax.
Another participant, Mr Sunday John, said that he had been enlightened about tax payment and how to use the new platform with ease .
