Federal appointees from Plateau State have established a formal forum to coordinate their activities and political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was taken at a meeting in Abuja convened by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro.

It brought together appointees and stakeholders from the state to discuss unity, collaboration and strategy within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Opening the meeting, the minister urged appointees from the state to work together, communicate regularly and use their positions and expertise for the common good.

He said better coordination would prevent duplicated effort and strengthen support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid. He also called for dialogue and inclusive engagement to bridge gaps between groups within the party in the state.

After deliberations, the minister formally established the Plateau Federal Appointees Forum as a platform for coordination and collective action.

Daniel Ding Dalyop was named as Secretary of the forum and also tasked to handle communication,
documentation and follow-ups.

Participants also proposed a coordination desk to track agreed activities.

Participants agreed to push for a deliberate reconciliation process to address lingering grievances from the APC primaries, which they said should be a priority and not wait until the election season.

They also proposed wider engagement involving the Governor, elected officials, party leaders and the APC National Chairman.

The forum will also review the factors behind the party’s performance in the 2023 elections in each local government area.

The findings will guide data-driven strategies for 2027, with appointees contributing their knowledge of their communities.

They further agreed to work more closely with local government party structures so that political engagement reaches beyond Abuja.

On the anticipated visit of President Tinubu to the state, the meeting called for a broader stakeholder meeting beforehand to align preparations and show unity.

The forum will meet every two weeks, with emergency sessions as needed. Thursdays were proposed for urgent meetings.

Participants closed with a commitment to turn the resolutions into action and to advance the interests of Plateau State
