Says zone needs unity, quality representation

A socio-political group, Plateau North Unity Forum, has thrown its weight behind the senatorial ambition of Professor Danladi Abok Atu ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing the need for unity and effective representation in the zone.

Addressing journalists in Jos at the weekend,,the Chairman of the Forum, Da Timothy Choji Kim, said the endorsement followed a careful assessment of past representation in the Plateau North Senatorial District, which he described as inadequate.

He said the zone has suffered underdevelopment due to lack of unity among its diverse ethnic and religious groups, stressing that the time has come for a new direction.

According to him, the Forum, comprising stakeholders from the six local government areas in the zone, was formed to promote unity and foster inclusive development.

Kim noted that the group is driven by the motto, “Our Diversity, Our Strength,” which he said reflects its commitment to building cohesion across ethnic, religious and social lines.

He said the Forum identified the need for a credible, experienced and unifying figure who would provide impactful and people-oriented representation in the Senate.

“After careful consideration, we unanimously resolved to support Professor Danladi Abok Atu as our preferred candidate for the Plateau North Senatorial seat in 2027,” he said.

The Forum described Atu as a seasoned academic with a Ph.D. in Social Studies, specialising in Peace Education and Social Rehabilitation, adding that his background makes him well-suited for legislative responsibilities.

It also highlighted his experience in public service, including his tenure as Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area and Secretary to the Plateau State Government.

According to the group, Atu’s grassroots connection, commitment to peacebuilding and track record in community development set him apart as a bridge-builder capable of uniting the zone.

The Forum further noted that his integrity, leadership qualities and wide network would attract development and investment to Plateau North.
