Queen Amina Support Initiative (QASI) a Civil Society Organization  on Tuesday lauded the Benue state Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia for the prompt payment of salaries of civil servants in the state .

QASI in a statement signed by its Media Officer and made available to newsmen expressed hope in the capacity of the Benue Governor to deliver.

It could be recalled that Civil servants on the payroll of the Benue state government had recently started receiving their monthly salaries after about seven months of waiting .

The civil servants had gone without salaries since December 2022 following periods of court garnishee orders on the bank accounts of the government and other sundry issues .

But on assumption of office, Governor Hyacinth Alia during his June 12, 2023 Democracy Day broadcast assured the civil servants that they would start receiving their salaries from June 25.

The Governor during the broadcast said, “we are aware of the sufferings and hardships of our people especially Civil Servants and retirees due to non-payment of their Salaries, Pensions and Gratuities.

We call for your patience and understanding as we are working hard to address these problems. Indeed, as from 25th of this month, Civil Servants should start expecting alerts for their payments.”

Keeping to his promise, Benue civil servants started receiving their salary alerts on Sunday evening .

QASI said ” Luck has shine on Benue now, the state will begin to shine brighter soon,” ”

The group said the intervention of the governor in fulfilling these outstanding salaries and other entitlements was timely and called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to sustain this good gesture .

Governor Alia is fulfilling his campaign promises as he has pledged to prioritize the welfare of Benue state civil servants, and to to make them happy throughout his tenure.

“We are confident that Benue state Governor would revamp almost every critical sector of the state and we call on citizens to support him at all times ”

QASI pledged to continue to partner with the Governor inorder to move Benue state forward.
