Distinguished Senator Professor Nora Ladi Daduut, who represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly and newly appointed Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, has announced with deep sorrow the passing of her immediate elder sister, Mrs. Emelia Adakole.

The renowned academic, who made history as the first female senator from Plateau State, described her late sister as a cherished family member and a pillar of strength in their lives.

Mrs. Emelia Adakole passed away recently, leaving behind a grieving family, friends, and the wider community who held her in high regard.

In a heartfelt family announcement, Senator Daduut shared that her sister “has gone to rest with the Lord,” expressing profound grief over the irreplaceable loss of a beloved sibling who played a significant role in their family.

The family has scheduled a wake keep for Thursday, April 9, 2026, followed by a Mass on Friday, April 10, 2026, both to take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral, Makurdi, Benue State.

Mrs. Adakole’s remains will be laid to rest in Makurdi in accordance with Christian traditions.

Senator Daduut has called on well-wishers, associates, colleagues, and the general public to join the family in prayers during this difficult period of mourning.

May the soul of the late Mrs. Emelia Adakole rest in perfect peace, and may Almighty God grant Senator Nora Daduut, the Adakoles and her entire family, and all who mourn this loss the fortitude and comfort to bear the irreparable vacuum she left behind.
