Triangle International Magazine marked its 10th anniversary with a landmark lecture and dinner at the Great Hall, King’s College London, drawing a full house of distinguished guests from across government, academia, media, and the Nigerian diaspora. The hall was filled to capacity, reflecting the significance of the event and the widespread interest in its theme, Harnessing the Role of Nigerians in the Diaspora for National Development. The evening featured rich intellectual engagement, including a high-level panel session where experts examined practical pathways for leveraging diaspora contributions toward sustainable national growth.

Delivering the keynote address as Guest of Honour, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, called for renewed and strategic engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora, describing them as a critical force in Nigeria’s development trajectory. He emphasized Nigeria’s strategic global positioning and highlighted ongoing economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that bold decisions such as fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange unification were necessary steps toward long-term stability. He also pointed to improvements in fiscal discipline, including a significant reduction in external debt obligations, particularly to the International Monetary Fund.

The Minister stressed that the current policy direction is shifting Nigeria from consumption-driven spending to production-oriented investment, creating an enabling environment for enterprise, innovation, and productivity. He urged Nigerians abroad to seize emerging opportunities by investing strategically and contributing meaningfully to national development. In recognition of his leadership and reform-driven initiatives, he was honoured with the Personality of the Year Award by the organisers.

In his welcome address, the CEO and Publisher of Triangle International Magazine, Femi Salako, expressed profound appreciation to guests and stakeholders for their support over the past decade. He described the anniversary not just as a celebration, but as a moment of reflection and renewed commitment to impactful storytelling and global engagement. Salako emphasized the importance of building bridges between Nigeria and its diaspora, noting that the magazine remains dedicated to fostering conversations that inspire progress, strengthen collaboration, and shape the future of the nation.

The event was graced by an array of high-profile personalities, including the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal; a representative of the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Afe Babalola SAN; the Group Managing Director of Sahara Energy Group, Kola Adesina MFR; the Executive Director and Founder of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria and London, Queen Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi; and Prof. Ojo Emmanuel Ademola, an Artificial Intelligence researcher in cybersecurity and information technology management, among other distinguished guests.

The panel session further enriched the programme, offering diverse perspectives on diaspora engagement, investment opportunities, and policy alignment needed to unlock the full potential of Nigerians abroad. Discussions throughout the evening reinforced the central message that diaspora collaboration remains a vital pillar in driving sustainable national development.
