Ughelli Rovers Football Club is set to begin its 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) Division One campaign with renewed focus, structure, and ambition as the new season kicks off this April.

Following key developments in the league format, this year’s competition will adopt a centralized venue system, with all fixtures for the Delta State group scheduled to be played at the Sapele Stadium. Matches will also follow a weekly schedule, giving teams more recovery time and improving overall match quality.

For Ughelli Rovers, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity.

The team will open its campaign on Sunday, April 19, 2026, against OYC FC, setting the tone for what promises to be a demanding and competitive run of fixtures.

Key matches to watch include:

Ughelli Rovers vs Sunsel FC (May 3) – an early test that could shape momentum going into the mid-phase of the season

Isoko United vs Ughelli Rovers (May 8) – a crucial away fixture with strong local rivalry undertones

Ughelli Rovers vs Holy Arrows FC (May 16) – a potentially decisive clash against one of the group’s most competitive sides

Sporting FC vs Ughelli Rovers (May 23) – a high-stakes encounter that could influence qualification standings

Ughelli Rovers vs Morak FC (May 30) – a penultimate fixture that may determine final positioning

FC Chimooski vs Ughelli Rovers (June 5) – a final-day clash where everything could be on the line

With nine matches to be played in a round-robin format, consistency will be key, and every point will matter in the race for qualification.

Head Coach Ekete leads the team into the season with a growing reputation for discipline, structure, and player development. Under his guidance, Ughelli Rovers have continued to build a competitive squad capable of holding their own against any opponent in the league.

Speaking ahead of the season, the club Sporting Director, Olawale Adigun reaffirmed club intent:

> “We are approaching this season with seriousness and purpose. The structure of the league gives every team a fair opportunity, and for us, the focus is on consistency, discipline, and continuous improvement. Our players understand what is at stake, and we are ready to compete.”

Beyond results, Ughelli Rovers remains committed to its core mission of developing young talent and providing a pathway for players to gain exposure and advance their careers.

The improved match scheduling is expected to enhance player performance, reduce fatigue, and allow teams to present a higher standard of football throughout the competition.

Fans and supporters are encouraged to follow the journey closely as the team pushes forward in what is expected to be a fiercely contested NLO season.

The mission is clear.
The preparation is done.

Ughelli Rovers are ready.
