DECEMBER 27 will be different in Uvuru, a community in Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, when the coronation of its new Eze Iheanacho Chinyereze Mbalewe, Ezeoha III of Uvuru holds on that day.
In the community’s calendar, December 27 is usually the cultural day which in 2025 will have an additional event, the coronation events billed for the Anglican Church grounds.
When the exalted seat of Ezeoha Uvuru was declared vacant, following the passing of HRH Eze Fidelis Elugwaraonu, the Ezeoha II, the community followed all constitutional and trafitional provisions and unanimously approached and selected HRH Eze Sir Iheanacho Chinyereze Mbalewe, who for over 22 years was a prominent member of the Ezeoha Uvuru Cabinet, holding the revered title of Nnanyereugo Obioha of Uvuru Ikedinairi.
Eze Sir Iheanacho Mbalewe is grounded in the local customs and traditions of his people. He has pioneered many development projects in the community and beyond. His greatest desire is the entrenchment of peace in Uvuru and sustained upliftment of the economic fortune of every citizen, especially the youth, for whom he has already developed a template.
His passion for the development of Uvuru, his closeness to the people, accounted for his unanimous choice as the new Eze. In other words, Uvuru people want him to continue the great works he has been doing for the community.
Peace and unity of the community is important to him and wants to prioritise them.
“Our community needs peace and unity. Without peace we cannot achieve much. Without unity, we will be working at cross purposes and the results of our efforts would be abysmal,” Eze Iheanacho Mbalewe said, underlying the foundations of his reign.
“Development of Uvuru will not be possible without peace and unity. We have great people in our community. When we work together, we will be greater together.”
Uvuru had its first traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Eze Reuben Ugwuegbulem Mbalewe, recgnised by the Imo State government on 1 January 1980 as Ezeoha I of Uvuru Ikedinairi.
Ezeoha I was the father of HRH Eze Sir Iheanacho Chinyereze Mbalewe, the Ezeoha III of Uvuru.
