JOS—AIDES, stakeholders and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Mikang Local Government Area have purchased Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Naanlong Daniel, to contest for another term in office.
The forms were obtained at the APC State Secretariat in Jos, in what the group described as a demonstration of confidence in the Speaker’s leadership and performance.
The supporters said the gesture was informed by his developmental strides, which they noted have had direct impact on the lives of the people of Mikang.
They highlighted his interventions in the education sector, including payment of WAEC and NECO examination fees, sponsorship of JAMB registrations and provision of scholarships to indigenes and residents of the area.
According to them, these efforts have eased the financial burden on parents and improved access to education for many young people.
The group also commended the Speaker for supporting farmers through the provision of fertiliser, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
They further cited his role in facilitating infrastructure projects, including the road linking Lifidi, Piapung to Baltep, as well as Lalin to Garkawa, alongside youth and women empowerment programmes.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Nicholas Homsun, said the decision to purchase the forms reflected the overwhelming confidence reposed in the Speaker.
He noted that the Speaker has distinguished himself through effective representation and people-oriented initiatives that have brought tangible development to the area.
Homsun added that his leadership style, anchored on inclusivity, accountability and grassroots development, has strengthened unity and trust among constituents.
The stakeholders maintained that continuity in office would help consolidate ongoing projects and expand development opportunities across Mikang Local Government Area.
They called on party members and residents to rally support for the Speaker’s re-election bid.
The group is expected to formally present the nomination forms to him on Friday.
