A day after his inauguration as Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission by President Bola Tinubu, Prof. Dakas CJ Dakas has visited former Governor of Plateau State and leader of the APC in the State, Senator Simon Bako Lalong.
Prof Dakas who was in company of APC Chairman Plateau State Hon. Rufus Bature appreciated the role that Senator Lalong played in his appointment and confirmation at the Senate.
He assured the Senator that he will do his best to contribute to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu through a thorough reform of obsolete laws in order to facilitate peace, progress and development of Nigeria.
Dakas while asking for prayers and support said the task before the Commission is enormous and requires the support of all stakeholders particularly the various arms of Government to succeed.
Senator Lalong who described the appointment of Prof. Dakas as well deserved said he was very optimistic that the Commission will witness a new phase in its operations as it is being headed by one of Nigeria’s finest legal intellectual.
Lalong recalled their days at the Nigerian Law School with Prof. Dakas whom he said carved a niche for himself and brought pride to Plateau State through excellent performance.
This he said has continued to reflect in his growth particularly in areas of law making having served severally as a key consultant on Constitutional Reviews in the country.
A statement signed by Dr. Makut Simon Macham ,Special Adviser Media to Senator Simon Bako Lalong, Plateau South Senatorial District reads that as deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Lalong assured him of his support towards ensuring that the Commission gets support of the National Assembly to effectively carry out its mandate.
Plateau APC Chairman Hon. Rufus Bature said the appointment, clearance and inauguration of Prof. Dakas is a good omen for the APC in Plateau State as he is expected to play his part in strengthening the contributions of the party to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
