Abuja – The Federal Government has re-emphasized its commitment to Nigeria’s electric vehicle industry, promising policies that favor local content, innovation, and industrial development.

Dr. Kingsley Udeh, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, disclosed this at the inaugural meeting of EVAMAN in Abuja. Represented by Mr. Ibiam Oguejiofor, he said Presidential Executive Order No. 5 remains central to promoting indigenous capacity in engineering and technology.

The ministry, he said, is partnering with MDAs to institutionalize local content in strategic sectors including clean transportation and renewable energy. “Nigerian talent, resources, and enterprises must occupy a central place in our industrial future,” Udeh stated.

EVAMAN President Mustapha Audu noted the association’s transition to elected leadership after two years, highlighting CAC registration and expanded membership across the EV value chain.

PEBEC Director-General Zahrah Audu said electric mobility supports the government’s vision for a modern, innovation-driven economy. Consultant Gift Agboro urged lower lending rates and stronger collaboration to tackle infrastructure and financing gaps.

Oando Clean Energy, through Adeyemi Adebajo, cited its electric bus deployment as part of efforts to build public trust in e-mobility.

The event saw the election of a new EVAMAN leadership team: President, Mustapha Audu; Vice President, Al Amin Ibrahim; Secretary General, Chinedu Ochinanwata; Assistant Secretary General, Ademola Ogunbanjo; Treasurer, Adeyemi Olukayode Kalejaiye; Assistant Treasurer, Maxx EV; Legal Adviser, Celyena Okiyi; Head of Public Affairs, Ikenna Ayu; Head of Research and Innovation, Chinedu Ekeh; and Government Liaison and Policy, Edward Ihejirika
