The Concerned Mikang Youth Vanguard (CYV) has observed with grave concern the recent publication circulating in the public space by Rt. Hon. George Edwards Daika regarding the outcome of the Mikang State Assembly APC primary election.

The group described the publication as misleading, self-serving, and an attempt to distort established facts surrounding the conduct and outcome of the primary.

The CYV therefore find it necessary to respond in order to set the record straight and correct the misrepresentations being presented to the public.

The group First and foremost wish to question the basis of Rt. Hon. George Daika appointment as a “Mikang Political Leader” and voice of the people. Political leader status is not self-declared, neither is it sustained by personal ambition or selective political alignment.

They alleged that his continued attempt to speak for Mikang people without any collective mandate is misleading and unacceptable.

It pointed out that it is important to state clearly that Rt. Hon. George Daika has practically lost relevance within his immediate political environment, particularly given his open partisanship in identifying with a single aspirant while claiming neutrality in public discourse, wondering why a man who could not secure broad acceptance in his own ward will reasonably position himself as the authority to define the will of the larger constituency.

It is also on record that in Hon. George Daika ward, the political outcome clearly reflected overwhelming support for the Speaker, and the reaction of youths in that area who openly expressed dissatisfaction with his political posture.

They observed that Instead of acknowledging this reality, he has chosen to present a different version, yet the facts remain widely known within the community. It therefore becomes questionable how someone who has lost grassroots acceptance in his immediate base now expects to command acceptance at the state or constituency level.

Furthermore, it is also on record that Naanlong Daniel won in three out of the four districts, a clear reflection of the spread of acceptance and political strength within the constituency.

Against this verifiable reality, Rt. Hon. George Daika is being economical with the truth in his public narration of events.
The claim being circulated that he was “chased out by thugs” does not reflect the widely known sentiment within the area, where many insist it was the reaction of local youths to his political posture and actions against their collective preference.

We are surprised that such local rejection is being repackaged as victimhood for broader political sympathy.
Come to think of it, if Rt. Hon. George Daika believes that his past membership of the House of Representatives places him above political scrutiny, then it is important to remind him that Mikang has had several distinguished political figures over time.

They argued that the likes of Innocent Tirsel, who also served in the House of Representatives, as well as Moses Sule, who served as Speaker, are all part of Mikang’s political history. Even within the current political reality, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel remains a central and leading figure in Mikang political structure by present influence and acceptance.

It is therefore curious that Rt. Hon. George Daika continues to elevate personal history above present political realities, while ignoring the current leadership structure that reflects the active political voice of the people.

We also find it expedient to question his political consistency. Is Rt. Hon. George Daika truly working in alignment with the APC structure, or is he advancing another political interest under the guise of party loyalty? Given his current position as an adviser to the Governor on National Assembly matters, it is expected that he demonstrates clarity of loyalty and restraint in intra-party disputes rather than actively fueling divisions through selective narratives.

Finally, Rt. Hon. George Daika should desist from making a caricature of himself in the public space. Politics in today’s world is not played through outdated narratives or emotional distortion of facts. His continued pattern of public exaggeration and selective storytelling only undermines his credibility and exposes him to avoidable political ridicule.

The Concerned Mikang Youth Vanguard therefore urges him to step back from personal political agitation and allow structured party processes and legitimate voices within Mikang to take precedence.

Mikang deserves maturity, truth, and respect for collective decisions, not recycled political narratives driven by personal frustration.

Signed:
Concerned Mikang Youth Vanguard (CYV).
