Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, has approved Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the date for the presentation of the Staff of Office to the new Aren Eggon, His Royal Highness, Honourable Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku I, OFR, CJ (Rtd).

The announcement was made by the Central Planning and Coordinating Committee for the Coronation of the Aren Eggon, which described the event as a historic milestone for the Eggon nation.

Justice Ubangari ascended the revered stool following his selection by the Eggon Kingmakers on May 5, 2023.

He had previously served as Wazirin Eggon during the reign of his predecessor, HRH Dr. Bala Abaine Angbazo (MFR, JP), who passed away on July 13, 2022.

The presentation of the Staff of Office will be the first in over four decades. The last ceremony was held on February 12, 1983, when the then Plateau State Governor, Chief Solomon Lar, presented the staff to the late Dr. Angbazo.

The Aren Eggon stool was upgraded to first-class status by the Plateau State Government on June 1, 1982.

The Central Planning and Coordinating Committee, in a statement, urged all Eggon sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora, traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, and well-wishers to prepare for the epoch-making event.

The statement added that the coronation activities would showcase the rich cultural heritage, unity, and traditions of the Eggon people.

It called on all invited guests and supporters to cooperate with security agencies and the planning committee to ensure a peaceful and successful ceremony.

The committee is chaired by the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, PhD, with Alhaji Isiyaku Abdullahi, Galadiman Eggon, as Alternate Chairman.n
