The Nigeria Democratic Congress held local government party executive congresses across the 18 local governments of Edo State. The state pro tem secretary Mr Peter Ajube earlier notified the Independent National Electoral Commission in a letter submitted to INEC on 27th of April, to inform the commission of the planned congress.

A press statement signed by Mr. Abdulkadiri Abdulazeez Obogeh, Edo State NDC Pro tem Publicity Secretary on April 2, 2026 said on 1st May, the party congresses were held across the 193 wards in the state. Each ward adopted its mode of Electing capable individuals to lead the party at the grassroots in accordance with the Party constitution.

The LGA congress, which complemented the foundation laid by the ward congresses, reflected widespread participation. It signaled the arrival of a party built on value, fairness, and justice, capable of challenging the ruling party.

The state pro tem chairman Engr David Olukoga, while commending INEC for supervising both the ward and LGA congresses, applauded party faithfuls for turning out en masse to elect their party officials.
