An aspirant in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship primaries in Plateau State, Hon. Jude Dakur, has rejected the outcome of the exercise held on Friday, alleging that no election took place in several local government areas.

Dakur specifically named Jos North, Kanam, Quan’pan, Pankshin, Bassa and Jos East Local Government Areas as places where, according to him and his agents, no primary election was conducted.

He alleged that officials saddled with the responsibility of conducting the exercise failed to deploy to designated centres across the affected councils, but instead “sat in hotels and private residences to concoct names.”

Describing the process as lacking credibility and transparency, Dakur insisted that it fell short of acceptable democratic standards.

“There was no ADC primary in Plateau State in these local government areas,” he said, calling on the party’s appeal committee to urgently intervene.

His Director-General, Rengkat Bakpet, in a statement made available to newsmen, said formal complaints had been lodged with the appeal committee by stakeholders and agents from the affected councils.

Dakur appealed to the committee to reject the results from Jos North, Kanam, Quan’pan, Pankshin, Bassa and Jos East, as well as the entire process, and called for the cancellation of the exercise and the fixing of a new date for fresh primaries.

He further alleged that the party’s Organising Secretary not only masterminded irregularities but also instructed primary electoral officials to support a particular candidate, thereby compromising the credibility of the exercise.
