In a moving outpouring of gratitude, thousands of Nigerians took to their platforms on Sunday to celebrate and honour Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, MFR, on Father’s Day.

Men, women, widows, and countless vulnerable individuals whose lives he has touched in profound and diverse ways poured out their hearts in appreciation for the Kwara-born philanthropist. Through his foundation, he has tirelessly created life-changing opportunities, lifted families from despair, and restored hope to many, leaving an indelible mark of compassion and generosity across communities.

Read the full statement of their encomium below:

There are men who become fathers by birth.

There are men who become fathers by responsibility.

Then there are extraordinary men who become fathers through sacrifice, compassion, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of others.

Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari belongs to that rare class.

Today, on Father’s Day, we celebrate not merely a father to his biological children, but a father to thousands.

A father to the orphan who found hope where there was none.

A father to the struggling student whose education was rescued from uncertainty.

A father to the young entrepreneur who received an opportunity when others only saw limitations.

A father to countless widows, vulnerable families, and communities who have experienced his generosity, compassion, and kindness.

Indeed, many proudly call him “Father” even though they do not share his name or bloodline.

Many whose fathers are alive still look up to him as a father figure because of the guidance, encouragement, wisdom, and support he has consistently provided throughout their lives.

That is because fatherhood, at its highest level, is not about biology.

It is about responsibility.

It is about service.

It is about lifting others.

It is about creating opportunities and opening doors.

It is about believing in people until they learn to believe in themselves.

For decades, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki has embodied these values.

Long before politics and public recognition, he was already investing in people.

Long before titles and honours, he was already changing lives.

Long before public applause, he was already extending a helping hand to those in need.

Across Kwara State, across Nigeria, and even beyond our borders, there are countless stories of lives transformed by his intervention.

Stories of young people empowered.

Stories of dreams revived.

Stories of businesses supported.

Stories of careers built.

Stories of families restored.

Stories of hope rekindled.

Many know him as a successful businessman.

Many know him as a renowned philanthropist.

Many know him as a respected political leader.

But perhaps his greatest title is one that cannot be conferred by any government or institution:

A Father to Many.

His greatest investment has never been in buildings, machines, or enterprises.

His greatest investment has always been in people.

In human potential.

In the belief that when one life is transformed, an entire generation can be transformed.

This is why thousands of young people see him as a mentor.

Why communities see him as a pillar of support.

Why ordinary people see him as one of their own.

And why so many families continue to remember him in their prayers.

The true measure of a man is not what he possesses, but the number of lives made better because he lived.

By that measure, Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari stands tall.

Today, Kwara celebrates you.

The people celebrate you.

The countless lives you have touched celebrate you.

The beneficiaries of your kindness celebrate you.

The young people whose futures you helped shape celebrate you.

The families whose burdens you helped carry celebrate you.

Thank you for being a father beyond blood.

Thank you for being a leader beyond title.

Thank you for being a source of hope in difficult times.

Thank you for showing that true greatness lies in service to humanity.

As we celebrate you today, we pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless you with good health, wisdom, strength, peace, and long life.

May He reward your kindness abundantly.

May He continue to make you a source of blessings to humanity.

And may future generations continue to benefit from the seeds of compassion, generosity, and service that you have planted.

*Happy Father’s Day to Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, MFR.*

*A Father to Many. A Mentor to Generations. A Friend of the People. A Blessing to Humanity.*
